Even on steep slopes and rugged terrain, tree care and maintenance work can be necessary from time to time. Due to the difficult terrain, however, these works require special expertise and technical equipment that is adapted to the situation. Steep slopes make it almost impossible to remove green waste and felled trees via land routes. In order to prevent slipping, some trees have to be secured when they are felled. Heavy-lift helicopters can solve these problems: They can lift and transport heavy and bulky branches and green waste without any difficulty and can secure trees during felling. This kind of work, where helicopters are used, is called heli-logging (helicopter logging).
When you first contact us, we will ask you for the key data concerning your project. As a result, we can immediately give you an assessment of the feasibility of your heli-logging project. In addition, we can provide you with a possible time frame for carrying out the project that takes into account the time required to obtain all approvals and permits. Last but not least, we will provide you with a reliable price estimate so that you can anticipate the costs of the operation. There is no charge for the initial consultation itself.
Planning the operation
Of course, we always prepare for every operation with meticulous attention to detail. We will provide a suitable helicopter for your heli-logging flight and will assemble the team consisting of an experienced pilot and a well-rehearsed ground crew. In addition, we will put together a team of experienced industrial climbers and tree surgeons who are familiar with heli-logging. We will carry out a site visit with you, to determine a suitable place for loading the trees and green waste, as well as areas for possible helicopter landings. After the site visit, we will also prepare a detailed risk assessment for you upon request.
We will also clarify all the details of your operation with the relevant authorities and will obtain the necessary permits and declarations of consent. In addition, we will communicate with local residents if the circumstances of the operation so require. We will provide you with a detailed operational plan, so that you have all the information you need at all times.
Carrying out the operation
On the day of the operation, one of our experienced employees will accompany the cargo flight and coordinate the work of all parties involved in the flight and heli-logging operation – including any third-party companies. Of course, we will also conduct a comprehensive safety briefing for all workers involved in the operation. Should the heli-logging mission necessitate the temporary closure of roads or railway lines in the area of operation, we will coordinate this and will ensure that disruption to traffic remains minimal.
In order to deal with the inevitable interest of the local media in your cargo flight, we can also serve as a contact for media representatives if required and can describe your heli-logging operation to the press. Upon request, we can also produce documentation of the cargo flight and can provide you with high-quality photographs or video footage.
