Gas tanks

If a house is not connected to the natural gas network, it can be heated with liquid gas via a gas tank. This is often located in the garden near the house and is placed there when the house it built. But if the gas tank becomes defective or is just too old, replacing it can be problematic. The house is now in the way of any access roads so that the heavy gas tank cannot be brought into the garden by road.

Especially in the case of properties that are difficult to access, the easiest way to replace a gas tank is to use a crane helicopter. After all, a helicopter has no trouble lifting a heavy gas tank. Its excellent manoeuvrability allows the load to be set down to the millimetre, even in the immediate vicinity of the house. Of course, the helicopter can also fly out the old gas tank first, so that the swap can be completed within a few minutes.

Feasibility check and cost estimate

During the initial telephone consultation, our crane flight experts can assess whether a cargo helicopter can carry out the project that you have planned. We also have many years of experience in obtaining approvals and permits. This allows us to estimate how long the official procedures will take and to provide you with a reliable date for your cargo flight. During the initial discussion, we will also gain an overview of the costs involved and can give you a fairly precise price estimate. The entire initial consultation is completely free of charge.

Preparation for the operation

With us, you can rely on conscientious and thorough preparation for your flight mission. We will select the helicopter that is best suited for the replacement of your gas tank and will assign an experienced ground crew to your operation. In order to give us an accurate picture of the conditions on site, we will conduct a site survey and will also define a suitable area for setting down the old gas tank and picking up the new tank, ready to place on your property. After the site visit, we can produce a detailed risk assessment upon request.

In the case of a crane flight in a built-up area, as is often necessary for the replacement of a gas tank, various authorities have to give their consent. We will relieve you of the effort of obtaining all the necessary permits and will communicate with all the authorities and institutions involved. If required, we can also inform your neighbours so that they are not surprised or unsettled by the cargo flight. We will provide you with a precise schedule for the day of operation, so that you are fully informed about all the planned activities and procedures.

Carrying out the operation

On the day of the cargo flight, one of our experienced staff members will be on site and will ensure that the flight is carried out quickly and smoothly. All personnel involved in replacing the gas tank will receive a comprehensive safety briefing. In addition, we will coordinate the work of all the contractors involved. If the flight route requires that road or rail routes be closed, we will also organise the closures.

It is quite likely that local and regional media will be interested in the cargo flight. In this case, if desired, we can make a staff member available as a contact person for the press. If you would like photographs or a video of the mission, we can produce high-quality images, which we will be happy to provide to you after the crane flight.
